Rodents and other wildlife can be difficult to keep out of structures. For instance, mice can squeeze through spaces as small as a dime and rats can fit through holes the size of a quarter. For proper rodent pest control, we seal any cracks and voids. Ensure there is proper drainage at the foundation and always install gutters or diverts which will channel water away from the building. Inspect-All Pest Services can also help you identify ways in which a rodent may be entering your home.

If you do find signs of an infestation, contact Inspect-All Pest Services promptly. A rodent exterminator will be able to inspect your home, confirm the species and recommend a course of rodent control treatment.

Types of Rats in Atlanta

Atlanta is home to two types of rats: Norway rats (Rattus norvegicus) and roof rats (Rattus rattus). Norways are known for their larger size, burrowing, and lighter coloring. Roof rats can be black in color and are climbers, often seen in trees, on power lines, and in attics. The Southeast is one of only two regions in the U.S. that is home to both Norway and roof rats.

Rattus norvegicus

Thanks to their propensity to gnaw through almost anything, Norway rats can cause damage to properties and structures, making them a threat to homeowners. Equally important, Norway rats are carriers of serious diseases, including jaundice, rat-bite fever, cowpox virus, trichinosis and salmonellosis.

Rattus rattus

Roof rats carry fleas and spread diseases such as typhus via fleas, infectious jaundice via urine in water or food, rat-bite fever via bites, trichinosis via undercooked pork and salmonellosis via droppings.
