Termites are small, white, tan or black insects that can cause severe destruction to wood found in and around buildings. It is estimated that Georgia has more homes infested with termites than any other state. In Georgia, the most common species of termites is the subterranean termite, which lives in nests or colonies in the soil.
Like many pests, termites are most active in the Spring, Summer, and early Fall. At Inspect-All we offer many termite services, including:
New construction pre-treatment
Active baiting system
Termite inspections
With over 35 years of experience with Atlanta termites, we can handle any termite problem, which is why we offer our Termite Guarantee.
There are several signs you might have termites- the first being that you see them! Keep in mind, termites can look similar to flying ants. (see inset)
Some other signs you might have termites include:
Sagging floors (or ceilings)
Crumbling wood structures
Cracked paint on wood surfaces
Wood with "hollow sound"
Red clay or mud trails
If you do discover termites on your property, be careful not to disturb them, or they could move to new locations, making them harder to treat.
Types of Termites in Atlanta
Atlanta, Georgia is home to two main types of termites:
Eastern subterranean termite
— Ground dwellers. The most common type of termite across the U.S.
Formosan termite
— Ground dwellers. Very aggressive, invasive species from China (they will even chew through rubber and wires).
Seasonality of Termites
Termites in Atlanta usually swarm in Spring and early Summer. Thousands of termites from a mature colony swarm together, usually after rain, over large areas and with the goal of finding new mates to start new colonies. Don't let YOUR home fall victim!
